Well I’m not the most tech-savvy individual but I have to say that the latest app from AppFoo Tectonics is a real boon for the increasingly absent-minded pensioner (or young person for that matter). This clever little product (and when I say ‘little’ I mean microscopic) and software means that you will never misplace or lose anything ever again!
It’s simply called “Where’s my Stuff” and uses the very latest nanotechnology* to track and find anything you own and cherish, whether it be your mobile phone, door keys, wallet, credit card or reading glasses (OK, so these are probably on your head). How it works is that you fix one of the nano-trackers to each item you want to protect using a special invisible adhesive. This looks like it might be tricky since the nano-trackers are tiny (see pic) but they are supplied in an easy to use applicator (not shown) which is a bit like something a dentist might use to fill your teeth. Once the tracker is installed it is impossible to detect and stays operational for up to three years with no maintenance.
Once you have placed the trackers in your items, go to the app on your PC, laptop, tablet or mobile and register each object with its own identifier (I imaginatively use ‘Shades’ for my sunglasses and ‘DKeys’ for my house keys). The next bit is amazing – the app presents you with a schematic of a standard house/flat and you can easily adapt it to the approximate design of your own home – number of rooms etc. If you have a garden you can even extend the schematic accordingly. Then, when you misplace something, just log on and the locator shows you exactly where you left it with a beep and a flash on the screen– happy days!
But here is the best bit – Where’s My Stuff is fully compatible with Google Maps and the nano-tracker has a low frequency range of 200Km. This means that David Cameron could have traced his daughter Nancy (the one he left in the pub in 2012) straight away and saved himself some unwanted grief from the press if only Where’s My Stuff had been available a few years ago. And what about those DVDs you lent to so-called friends all those months ago (but can’t remember who) – Where’s My Stuff takes you right to their front door!
I’m so excited by this genuine aid to failing memory that I am going to write a letter to AppFoo Tectonics thanking them for their super invention. And I’m going to send a real letter with a postage stamp attached, not a boring email – now where did I leave my pen?......
* For those of you desperate to have your tech fix, the nano-tracker uses single walled carbon nano-tubes with vanadium oxide nano-wires. The cell incorporates Lithium-ion fully transparent electrodes. Well that’s cleared that up!
