Early excursions with friend Tom to UK bird reserves. Major embarrassments with an oversized Richard’s Pipit, a stray flamingo and a nervy Purple Sandpiper on the beach at Hunstanton.

Frequent holidays to birdwatching venues: Faroe Islands; Romania; Orkney; Portugal and Sicily with expert David Rosair.
